Carp Fishing in Portugal

For 2009 we are able to offer you a completely new venue and adventure, monster carp fishing in Portugal.

This small 6 hectare lake with a capacity for 100.000m3 of water contains some of the most stunning carp in the country. This barrage was built in 1991 and was stocked with carp and black bass. During the years the water was untouched and allowed to mature. The owner Joao on one of his walks around the lake found a dead carp in the margins, he had it removed and weighed, it was an amazing 28kg!

Just over a year ago the water was opened to a limited number of anglers with astonishing results. Carp to just under 24kg were caught but the real potential is still very much unknown. Having just returned from a 6 day trip I had some fantastic results. With some stunning common carp on the bank of 16.400kg, 14.700kg and a personal best common of 21.400kg. leaves little to be said about this new venue.

The water is full of crayfish and is the obvious reason for the size of the carp. Add to this the large amount of predatory Black Bass and the population of smaller fish has been kept at bay allowing a healthy population of monster carp.

Situated in the middle of rice fields the lake has the benefit of constant water change as the water flows from the rice paddies into the lake and back out in to the rice paddies again. This makes for excellent water quality and very healthy fish.

You can reserve this water for a minimum of 4 anglers with me as your guide. All tackle is supplied with bivvy accommodation as well as quality Dynamite bait at realistic prices. Airport pick up can also be arranged. Showers and toilets are available on site. We will be making constant improvements to this venue in the following year and are sure that this will become as sort after destination for many specimen anglers.
